Spring Closing

As the end of the academic term draws near, it is time to prepare to leave your on-campus housing for Summer Break. This not only include packing up your personal belongings and emptying your room, but also fulfilling a few responsibilities to Residence Life. Be sure to plan ahead and stay informed of your closing responsibilities for preparing your living space for when you check out.

For information about your closing responsibilities, please use the following resources:

Read It, Don’t Delete It (sent to your email on April 23rd)
Spring Closing website
Posting left on your door knob
Bulletin Boards in your community
Residence Life Staff in your area

Keep in mind that the on-campus apartments and residence halls will close at 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

Tunnel of Oppression 2013

Is Your Vision Clear?

Tunnel of Oppression is a multi-sensory experience in which participants travel through a space and encounter various types of oppression in new ways. The experience sheds light on various topics and allows participants to explore their opinion about each topic.

This year’s topics include: Parental Oppression, Child Abuse, Sexual Assault, Cyberbullying, Body Image and Animal Abuse.

Join us at the McKinney Center West Entrance (Next to the Health Center) Wednesday through Saturday from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Global Poverty Project

Monday, April 8^th 5:30-7:00pm VH 1000

The Global Poverty Project is building a grassroots movement to share the message that we can end extreme poverty within our lifetimes. It’s not a matter of doing charity; it’s a matter of working toward a fair and equal life for all the world’s citizens. This is going to be a great event that will give students the opportunity to learn more about why extreme poverty exists and give tools and resources to actually do something about it.

Housing Renewal: Regular Registration

Starting at 7:00am today, residents that did not squat in their current room, can now select a different room that is available anywhere on campus.

This is an online process, which can be found under ‘My Housing’ on TruView. Don’t forget, in order to sign up for a , you MUST fill the entire room. The online link will close at 5:00pm on Friday, February 22^nd. Registration for housing is based on based on credit hours earned.

Housing Renewal: Special Squatters

Starting today at 8:00am, residents that qualify as Special Squatters have the option to “squat” in an open room throughout their current building. Areas designated as Special Squatters are:

Missouri Hall Second floor
Missouri Hall 1200s and 1300s
Missouri Romance Languages (1400s & 1500s)-Special Squatter only if currently in wrong gender wing 1400’s will be female, 1500’s will be male.
BNB McKinney House (1220-1319)
Centennial Hall
Ryle Hall 2400s and 2500s
Rooms that are offline for incoming ADA

Residents of these areas will not be able to stay in their current rooms. As an alternative, these residents can choose a different room within the building they currently reside.

This process is NOT online, but rather you must come in person to the Residence Life Office, MH 1100, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Anybody that is a Special Squatter should have received an email notification from the Office of Residence Life, so check your email. If you live in one of these areas and did not receive an email, please contact our office at 660-785-4227 or reslife@truman.edu

Housing Renewal: Squatter’s Rights

Starting today at 7:00 am, residents qualify have the option to “squat” in their current room (unless designated as a Special Squatter), if they want to live in the same space they are currently in, for Fall 2013.

This is an online process, which can be found under ‘My Housing’ on TruView. Don’t forget, in order to squat in your room, you MUST fill the entire room. The online link will close at 5:00pm on Tuesday, February 12^th.

Don’t have a roommate to sign up with for next year?

Come to the Residence Life Meet and Greet for a chance to meet other students that would like to live on campus next year, but don’t have a roommate yet. This opportunity comes to you in time to find a roommate so you can register online together, giving you a better chance of picking the room you want!
