Student Advisor/Apartment Manager Application

Dear Prospective Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in applying to be a Student Advisor or Apartment Manager with Residence Life for the 2010-11 academic year! Working as a Student Advisor offers excellent opportunities to further serve the Truman community in a challenging position that requires responsibility, dedication and a willingness to have fun!

Although Student Advisor positions require a great deal of time and energy, our staff find that they gain a great deal of personal and professional growth in return.  We encourage you to explore the possibility of being a Student Advisor by asking questions of any Residence Life Staff member, attending an information session, and completing this application. 

Below you will find the selection timeline, tips for interviewing, application, and three recommendation forms. Please note the due date of January 18 as late applications will not be accepted  When you submit your application, you will be asked to choose a group & individual interview block time.  This year, only a limited number of interviews will be offered for Student Advisor positions.  Not all students who apply will be selected to interview.  On January 25, after applications are reviewed, applicants will be notified via e-mail whether or not they have been selected to interview.  At that time, applicants who will be interviewing will receive an interview time and date confirmation.

Student Advisor Timeline

• November 17, 18 & December 9,10 - SA Information Sessions (8pm, MO Hall Chariton Rm)
• January 18 - SA Applications Due (Applicants sign up on the application for one interview block)
• January 22 - References Due (Three) (You may contact our office to verify completion - x4227)
• January 25 - Applicants notified via e-mail whether or not they have been selected to interview.
• January 30 & 31 - SA Interviews (Selected applicants only attend one  interview date/time)
• February 10 - Notification letters sent out to all applicants
• April 2010 - Spring Training for ALL 2010-11 SAs (Exact date TBA)

Apartment Manager Timeline

• November 19 & December 8 – AM Information Sessions (8pm, MO Hall Chariton Rm)
• January 18 - AM Applications Due (Applicants will be contacted to sign up for an interview time)
• January 22 - References Due (Three) (You may contact our office to verify completion - x4227)
• January 25 & 26 - AM Interviews (Applicants only attend one interview date/time)
• January 28- Notification letters sent out to all applicants
• April 2010 - Spring Training for ALL 2010-11 AMs (Exact date TBA)

Reference forms will be emailed to the individuals whose names you provide on the application. Regardless of when you turn in your application, all completed reference forms should be submitted by January 22.  One must be from a current Student Advisor, one must be from a Truman faculty/staff member (who is not a hall director or CC), and one can come from anywhere else (other faculty/staff, advisors, teachers, coaches, or employers [no family members please]).
