Blanton-Nason-Brewer Hall

Welcome to Blanton-Nason-Brewer Hall! This newly renovated building re-opened in August 2008. We welcomed 50 first year students and 300 upper class students, including our transfer students and sorority housing.

Originally, Blanton-Nason-Brewer Hall was three separate buildings connected with breezeways. The first true residence halls on campus were Blanton and Nason Halls. While the plan called for the construction of Brewer Hall as well, it would not be added until a decade later when funds were secured. The Nason wing was designed so that Brewer could be added on later. Nason was named for President Nason, who was the second person to serve in that capacity after President Baldwin left for Texas. It was Blanton that replaced Nason and ultimately had him fired from the College. These two men, adversaries in life, now share a building.

The hall was designed to be an all female hall, but at times housed men in some of the wings to accommodate early housing needs. After the completion of Dobson Hall, the building went all female. In the late 1980s, however, it was the first hall to try true coed style living. The program was slow at first, but eventually the idea took hold and spread to other halls. BNB returned to all female status in the fall of 1999 after demand for women-only housing dropped off. It was a women’s hall until it closed in Spring 2007.  After renovations, the building is now one, complete building, and once again home to men and women.

The renovations for BNB Hall began in the summer of 2007 and significant changes have been made to better accommodate the students. New additions and amenities to this suite-style building include: new carpet in each hallway, room, and lounge, new paint, new plumbing throughout the building, new bathroom layouts, A/C control in each room,  kitchen and laundry facilities on each floor, new computer stations on the 2nd and 3rd floors, new study rooms on each floor, an elevator, ramps for handicap accessibility, open lounges, and  a new back entrance to the building. Photos of the renovations and the progress can be found on our PHOTOS page.
